Frieda Pinto Like You’ve Never Seen Before

Relative newcomer Freida Pinto (known for her role in 2008 Academy Award winning film Slumdog MIllionaire) sets the August issue of Interview ablaze in one shockingly beautiful photo shoot. Karl Templer styled Pinto in an array of seducing looks from name brands like Versace, Stella McCartney, and Christopher Kane. It should come as no surprise that fashion photographers Mert & Marcus shot this set. The acclaimed duo are known for their portraits of sophisticated and powerful women.

Thought-Provoking: Jill Greenberg’s Glass Ceiling

Now showing at ClampArt gallery in New York is Jill Greenberg’s beautifully riveting series Glass Ceiling. While Greenberg is known for her incredible portraiture that includes crying babies, A-list celebrities or even cute and cuddly bears, she’s equally adept at taking her camera off land and under water.

Back in 2008, Greenberg was commissioned to shoot a commercial fashion spread with the US Olympic Synchronized Swim Team, which asked the ladies to wear high heels. Struck by the absurdity of it all, Greenberg was inspired to create a fine art set that would show the “tension of her models coming to the surface gasping for air while wrestling with the weight of the water as a metaphor for the role women must play in the outside world.”

Sent to us from ClampArt gallery, here are some of photos from that thought-provoking series.

Finding Fragility on Faces

Fragility. Merriam-Webster defines it as the quality or state of being easily broken or destroyed. It’s what I believe to be the perfect word to describe these beautifully vulnerable portraits taken by Bruxelles, Belgium-based photographer David Olkarny. See the emotion on their faces, try and feel what they’re going through.

Refreshing Photography from an 18-Year-Old

London, UK-based Francesca Jane Allen is a fashionable and talented 18 year-old photographer. She works primarily in film, taking candid images and portraits while dabbling with fashion on the side. Like many young photographers, she is attempting to discover a style that makes her happy. As a self-proclaimed “bored teenager,” Allen has done an excellent job in using that feeling to motivate herself into creating interesting images. Excited to see how her style evolves with time.

Oregon-based couple Kim and Phil proudly present their series Morning in the Woods. Striving for connection, personality and love through their images, this photo set will surely stand the test of time.

“It’s about a young woman waking up in a forest and enjoying the beautiful nature that surrounds her,” says Kim and Phil. “We wanted it to be delicate and very feminine, showing off the natural beauty of the model, environment and the lingerie.”

Island Fever

The youth have certainly made an impact on the art of photography. At 21-years-old, Christoph Schaller has already turned his hobby into a passion and a way of life. The Germany native provides a fresh look; his photos are light, fun and carefree with a distinct beauty.

“I’ve only started taking photos about a year ago when I bought myself a camera in order to be able to capture moments, people and landscapes on my countless journeys,” Schaller shares. “What started as a hobby quickly became an obsession, something I love to do.”

Subtle Sexiness

If you believe that sexiness has more to do with what you don’t see than what you do, then you’ll appreciate the photography of Patricio Suarez. The New York-based photographer works as a director of photography, mostly shooting commercials. “I love what I do and photography is just an extension of that,” he says. “I carry my camera wherever I go. Most of my work derives from this.”

Inked Up Self Portraits

Lauren Peralta is a New York-based model and photographer who isn’t afraid to lose all of her inhibitions. As Kevin Chung stated before, “She just has a way of beautifully capturing herself on camera.” The fact that she’s inked up adds another unique element to her self portraits. Here are some of our favorite shots which she simply says are, “Photos of me, by me.”
